Besides, it enjoined the government to ensure inspection of its projects across the state to ensure execution of quality jobs and value for public funds.
The committee’s Chairman, Engr. Bashir Atunde Lawal who made the call when he led other members of the committee on the inspection of the project stressed the need for government to handle the issue with all seriousness so that it does not hinder efforts at ensuring supply of potable water to Offa and neighbouring communities
While commending the government for bridging infrastructure gaps in the state, he advised that only certified contractors should be patronized
Lawal disclosed that his committee is committed to carrying out its duties without fear or favour, stressing that his members are being guided by COREN law.
In his words: “What we are doing is to ensure that contractors adhere strictly to specifications, guide against casualties, and prevent building collapse. We are not witch-hunting anyone”
On what COREN is doing to prevent building collapse in Kwara State, Engr. Lawal said that the Technical Committee is very strict on professionalism.
He decried the issue of persistent building collapse in some parts of the country promising that COREN would stamp out quacks in the state.
