A little boy asked the mother ‘why do I have to obey all the instructions you give me? Mum responded, ‘so that when you ask me to do something for you, I will do same. I demand your obedience, the same way you would want mummy to buy you toys, football or computer games. You have to treat others the same way you would like to be treated. Son’s response ‘alright mummy, I will not be naughty again, but anytime I disobey your instructions, remind me of this conversation, even if it is the next minute’ this is typical of kids I guess.
It is amazing, how a person would like prompt execution of a request, or to be accorded the due respect or to be well catered for. However, when it is required of the same person to treat others in a similar way, they would do exactly the opposite. If you do not want to be judged, criticised or gossiped about, then please don’t do same to others. Jesus said emphatically in Matthew 7:12, that whatever you wish others would do to you, do same for them. In other words treat others the same way you would like to be treated because that is the law. This means even when, you have been mistreated, you still have to do what JESUS CHRIST, expects from you. Anytime you are tempted to repay someone for his or her wrong doing, just ask yourself this ‘WHAT WILL JESUS EXPECTS ME TO DO IN THIS SITUATION’?
Often times, because of the issues or struggles of life, we live forgetting that God is watching. Admittedly, some people may act unreasonably or be unfair to you sometimes. But as a Christian, you must remember to live your life the way Christ would like you to. Do not be influenced by the negative lifestyles of others, but let the Words and teachings of JESUS, be your guide. Remember this, that whatsoever a man sows, he shall surely reap (Galatians 6:7). Sow blessings, forgiveness, love, kindness among others. Avoid anger, jealousy or hatred and the God of Heaven will reward your heart of kindness.
