In a bid to improve the policy direction of Nigeria and the UK and also to sustain the existing good bilateral relations between the two countries, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to UK, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola was at Chatham House London to hold a meeting with Dr. Alex Vine OBE, Director of African Progrmamme in Chatham House and Ms. Tighisti Amare, Assistant Director of Programme.
When asked by Green Savannah Diplomatic Cable about the details of the meeting, Ambassador Isola who did not give the details simply said” quite fruitful deliberations on the policy direction of Nigeria and the UK”
Since Nigeria gained independence from UK, Nigeria has maintained strong relations with United Kingdom. Till date, UK is one of Nigeria’s strongest allies.
Recall in 2017, former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright said there are as many as 250,000 Nigerian nationals or dual Nigerian – British nationals living in the UK ,adding “some claim the total Nigerian diaspora in the UK is well over a million. There are perhaps 20,000 British nationals in Nigeria. UK’s bilateral trade relationship with Nigeria is still worth £3.8bn per annum”
Since he resumed as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to UK, Ambassador Isola has embarked on some reforms to improve the image of Nigeria, improve on the bilateral relations between the two countries and attract Direct Foreign Investment to Nigeria.
