Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas has commenced two- day working visit to Ashanti Region as part of steps to further cement the relationships between Nigeria and Ghana and to interface with the Nigerian Community in the Region.
The visit was premised on strengthening and exploring means of further engagements between the High Commission and the respective government institutions at both central and regional level.
Accompanied by officials of Nigerian High Commission in Accra, Ambassador Ibas first port of call was the office of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah where both of them had a very fruitful discussion particularly on challenges facing some Nigerians in Ghana with a view to finding lasting solution.
They also discussed issues of mutual benefits to the two countries.
Nigeria and Ghana share a special bond of friendship that pre-dates independence adding that both countries continue to enjoy close bi-lateral cooperation in areas that deepen culture, political, economic and trade relations
Thereafter, the High Commissioner visited the Palace of the Seriki Zongo and the palace of Yoruba Chief where he charged them to continue to promote peace and unity among Nigerian community in Ghana.
Ambassador Ibas also had an interactive session with the Nigerian community in Ashanti Region where he assured them of the mission’s commitment to the welfare.
The High Commissioner enjoined Nigerian community in Ghana to always obey the law of the host country and be good Ambassadors of Nigeria.
It would be recalled that while presenting his Letters of Credence to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in September this year, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas said he would build on the existing brotherly relationship between Nigeria and Ghana and do more to enhance the cooperation between the two nations.
The High Commissioner is expected to pay homage to His Royal Majesty, Osei Tutu the II and also visit Kwame Nkrumah University.
