Nigeria and Ghana are finalizing processes of signing nine memoranda of understanding(MoUs) in the coming weeks as a way of further strengthening the strong economic and political ties between the two countries says Nigeria High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Micheal Olufemi Abikoye
Besides, the two nations are to look at other areas of cooperation that are of strategic importance to them even as Ambassador Abikoye says good neighbourliness is key in enhancing development between Nigeria and Ghana.
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari and President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana have met four times in four months which is historic in the relations between the two countries.
Since he presented his Letters of Credence to President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ambassador Abikoye has been working hard not only to attract foreign investors to Nigeria but to also strengthen the political ties between Ghana and Nigeria
The High Commissioner while on a courtesy call to Krif Ghana Limited said he was there to see how the organization could be a platform to strengthen the bond of solidarity between Ghana and Nigeria stressing that at government level, the two countries are collaborating very well.
Abikoye disclosed further that the two countries should move beyond the cooperation at the political level to tackling real challenges confronting the economies of Ghana and Nigeria
His words; ‘’we have the common issue of the youth moving from either of these countries to the other in their numbers, giving an indication that what affects Ghanaians affects Nigerians. The increasing number of Nigerian students in Ghanaian tertiary institutions is ample evidence that good neighbourliness is key to enhancing our development”
He enjoined the Nigerian Community in Ghana to respect the laws of the host country which he observed is key in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Krif Ghana Limited, Rev. Kennedy Okosun said the company had created employment opportunities for the youths of the two nations adding that more jobs would be created for them
