Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Olufemi Michael Abikoye has challenged Nigerians in diaspora to shift from the past and emulate the positive development happing at home even as he enjoined them to channel their energy towards the development of Nigeria and their host countries.
Abikoye gave the advice when the newly elected executives of Association of Nigerian Women, Ghana paid him a courtesy visit. While reminding the new executives of the task ahead, the High Commissioner enjoined them to mobilize other Nigerian women to obey domestic laws of Ghana and ensure that they visit Nigeria from time and contribute their quota to the development of their country.
In his words: “You must remain focused and there should be no distractions. I enjoin you and other Nigerians living abroad that there should be a shift from the past and emulate the positive development happening in Nigeria.
“You must mobilise other members to obey domestic laws of Ghana and ensure they visit home regularly and contribute their quota to the development our great country, Nigeria”.
The Ambassador advised the new executives to be transparent while discharging their duties among their members adding that they should give back to the community as part of their social corporate responsibility. He said further that they should extend their courtesy visits to multinational companies largely owned by Nigerians to support them in order to achieve all their outlined programmes
Earlier in her remarks, the President of the association,, Mrs. Beauty Amaebinye commended the High Commissioner for always leaving his doors open for all Nigerians living in Ghana. She described as uncommon, the High Commissioner’s passion for the welfare of Nigerians living in Ghana.
Mrs. Beauty recalled that the election of the new executives was held in April under the supervision of the caretaker committee members of all Nigerian Community Association where twelve members were elected as executives. She informed the High Commissioner that the inauguration of the new executives will come up in July and presented a letter of invitation to him.
